A Modern Homesteader

Liming the Plot

This year, we’re getting a 40×40 plot at the Red Barn Community Farm in Everett, WA. It’s the right time to get lime down and since the soil is super acidic at the farm, it is definitely necessary. I went and applied lime to the plot. It started raining so I had to leave and still need to put another 2 bags on. As the rain picked up, the 2 pounds of mud sticking to my boots became 5…on each foot!

My bum feels like I did 500 flights on a stair stepper… yep, I’m sore!

We’re really hoping that this plot works out as it will expand the area we have to grow food significantly, as well as give us a different microclimate to work with and different soil types to address.
